I'm not even supposed to be here today

I just accepted my first substitute teaching gig, starting at 11:30 a.m. today. Though it was an administrative nightmare to get signed up (literally took three months), there is no training or anything once you're IN. I guess I'll just show up and hope someone gives me instructions? *bites nails*

FIVE DAYS TO MY BIRTHDAY. I expect everyone to have cake that day, so please plan ahead.

I understand why people post their fic at AO3 and other archives but selfishly, I sure wish they wouldn't. Simply for this reason: I cannot change the formatting when I read, and I can on LJ. SIGH.

The other day I sat in on a webcast about new teen books for 2010 and 2011. Your upcoming trends are angels (I am so incredibly burned out on this, do not want!) and fairies (what...?). I dunno. I asked for an ARC of one of the books about a teen necromancer (again I say...what??) and the publisher sent me a whole BOX of things. Rather exciting. One is a book about a teen girl angel who falls in love with a human teen boy. Hijinks ensue, as they do. The cool part is that the author is 18. Her bio says she was 14 when she published her first book. AMAZING. I'm not stoked about the subject matter, but I definitely will read (and no doubt give you my every thought) to support this awesome chick writing as a teen. Very cool.

Now, I guess I need to get dressed and look up directions. If you live in my district, better bring your kids home. I'm in charge today. MWAHAHA.
