I can read Sam's mind

I have been able to speak with my Dad twice now on the phone. He sounds strong. In fact, he sounds a little like he was home and I'd just interrupted him from a nap! It was really reassuring. He even asked about my story time. I mean, the man just had major emergency surgery and he remembered to ask what the theme was for my stupid story time this week. *sniffles* So sweet.

The real struggle at the moment is with his pain medicine. He has self-administered morphine and there's a green light that comes on when he can have more and a red light when he can't. The problem? He's completely red-green colorblind and cannot tell the colors apart! Isn't that a CRAZY issue? But, all the same, it's very real. Mom and the nurses have been helping him, but still...frustrating. It makes my heart ache a little extra.

Today I am working at a different branch. Always an adventure. It's my last make-up day -- sort of. I also asked for a day off in June to recover from the NKOTBSB concert but the manager wants me to make it up in pieces instead of as one whole day. I don't really get it, but whatever.

ANYWAY. Next week I'll be on a regular schedule with two actual days off, how great is that!

Tomorrow I WILL be in a good mood, watch me!
