three books

Read three great books lately to recommend to you guys. I apologize in advance, I'm in a bit of a hurry and am totally just linking to Amazon reviews instead of writing analysis myself. Forgive me?

  • Divergent by Veronica Roth -- Dystopian, reminded me a lot of Hunger Games, I read this during my lunch breaks and got so lost that TWICE I was late going back to work, really good. (Warning: As all YA books are now, this is the first of three and ends on a cliffhanger. Still. SO GOOD!)

  • And Then Things Fall Apart by Arlaina Tibensky -- I tweeted that this was a book about a smart girl with real feelings. Really good and different than a lot of things on the market right now. I liked it a lot.

  • Word After Word After Word by Patricia MacLachlan -- MacLachlan has won the Newbery and when asked to write a book for children about how to write, this is what she landed on. I love the emphasis on the different reasons people write (to make sense of things, to make things turn out how you want, to keep your experiences, etc.) This book literally is aimed at elementary school kids and yet I found it extremely powerful. (And, if the dog subplot doesn't make you tear up then you are dead inside.) Short, excellent read.

Hope you find something to enjoy!
