SPN: Sam's Bright Smile

two can make the light shine through

I loved seeing pictures of your favorite rooms, and what you have been eating, and the beautiful things you love outdoors, keep the pics coming!

I love to see other people's lives. So, all week I'm asking you to post pictures. They can be new ones you take just for this, or old ones already lounging on your hard drive. You can post them in comments here or in your own LJ. You can play on one day or on all five. You can post today's request on another day. The wheres and hows aren't as important as the sharing and conversation.

Today I want to see a picture of YOU! (This post isn't locked, please keep that in mind.) It could be an existing snapshot, you in the mirror, your pedicure, a signature piece of clothing....whatever. Or, you can post something completely different that you find picture-worthy about today. Your choice.

SPN: Sam's Kind of Librarian

King & King

I wanted to post about a book I just discovered. It's a kid's picture book, aimed at children who can't yet read.

It's called King & King by Linda de Haan and Stern Nijland. The summary says: When the queen insists that the prince get married and take over as king, the search for a suitable mate does not turn out as expected.

Yes, this basically is every J2 royalty AU that exists, in picture book format. The queen drags a line of eligible princesses through and the prince turns them all down. He's bored and couldn't care less. Finally, one walks in and the prince gets up and says YES! THAT ONE! and everyone is excited until they realize he doesn't actually mean the princess, but instead her brother, who came into the throne room with her. They're surprised, but go with it.

Then the two princes fall in love, get married, and rule the country as King and King. And it truly ends with And everyone lived happily ever after.

I love this book. It's sweet, simple, not preachy in any way, the illustrations are adorable, and it tells a simple story every one, at any age, can grasp.
