Then, we wandered over to Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, which is a beautiful building, I love going there. Anyway, there was a special showing of Being Elmo, which was STELLAR. I recently read Kevin Clash's bio, My Life as a Furry Red Monster, and it also was really amazing. In fact, I started out reading it on my lunch break at work but had to stop because it kept making me CRY. Happy tears (over and over), but still. The movie was the same way. Just really good. I highly recommend both the movie and the book.
Then we went home and I got to hang out with Dad for a bit and watch some Jeopardy. Good times.
I had asked Mom to find a couple of old pictures for me. In particular, I wanted a photo of my Dad's parents together (because I didn't have one -- my maternal grandmother died when I was four), and a picture of my parents on their wedding day. She found a whole PILE of both those things and several more and we had so much fun going through them. There was one of all my baby clothes strung up on a clothes line, one of my Grandad and I snuggled in bed, one of my Grandad holding me that reminds me so much of my own Dad holding his grandchildren as babies...it was just really neat. I am so pleased and grateful to have these pictures. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I suspect a collage is in the works.
After THAT, I went to a baby shower with work people (youth center peeps, not my branch co-workers) and it was awesome and so much fun. It's sort of an nontraditional group -- they served homemade fajitas and cookie pops, and Lisa opened presents while we watched the Oscar red carpet stuff. (The lesbians in the group were flipped out over Glenn Close, which I thought was both hilarious and awesome.)
I love these women. Without exception they all are excellent librarians. They also are creative, funny, smart, very strong women. To be honest, the fact that they ask me to hang out with them occasionally just blows my ego right up. If they are so awesome and they want ME to hang out with THEM, then I must be a little awesome too, right? I love it. Whenever we're together, I just want to soak up EVERYTHING.
And then I came home and started laundry and packed my lunch for today and fell into bed and slept straight through to morning. Now, I have had two cups of tea and about to leave for work. I have GOT to make my story time craft examples today -- it's a tough life. *grin*
