I've wanted to start doing some fic reccing again, I used to do it weekly but now it has been literal YEARS. I have a backlog of bookmarked things, as well as some new brilliance. (I can be real here...akintay's "Year in the Life" is what made me want to start reccing again!)
Here are a few things I read and loved, hopefully more to come...
A Year in Life by akintay -- (Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 8,00 words) -- After his break-up with Sandy, Jared is doing fine. He doesn't need to rebound (like Chad thinks he does) and he isn't falling apart (like everyone on set thinks he is). He has his dogs, his job, and Jensen.
Caught in the Cookie Jar by ashtraythief -- (Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 5,400 words) -- Jensen helps his nephew bake at a cookie contest. Unfortunately, his childhood nuisance Jared Padalecki is also there. Sprinkles fly.
Every Old Town's Just Our Past Burning Down by akintay -- (Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 41,000 words) -- The world ends and those who survive are left with chaos; cities and towns are in ruins and there's a shortage of food and an outbreak of diseases that soon lead to panic and violence. With nothing keeping him in Texas Jensen decides to leave, wandering back roads and wilderness with no destination in mind. His path leads him to a secluded farm in Wyoming and a ragtag group of people. There, he ends up finding more than he dared to hope for: a home, friendships, and maybe even a chance at love with Jared, who Jensen is instantly drawn to even though he can't quite figure him out.
And, there's a sequel: Paradise Found -- (Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 17,400 words) -- There are old nightmares and new worries, but the farm is their own little paradise in a very fucked up new world. (takes place a year after the end of Every Old Town's Just Your Past Burning Down)
Fresh Ink and Blueberry Muffins by riyku -- (Jared/Jensen, R, 6,200 words) -- Five years should have been enough time to get over Jared. Jensen finds out that it doesn't even come close. (Alternatively, the one where Jensen is a tattoo artist and Jared has one hell of a sweet tooth.)
Slice of My Pie by rockstarpeach -- (Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 2,200 words) -- Because when Jared asks for more, Jensen will always always give him what he asks for.
